Salary and Deferred Compensation

Salary 2006-2007

Deferred Compensation
As an alternative to Social Security tax, you may elect to participate in a deferred compensation plan. A percentage of your pre-tax base pay is contributed to your designated investment options in the Minnesota Deferred Compensation Plan.

 

Life, Dental and Health Insurance

Life Insurance
HCMC offers basic life insurance of $25, 000 for individual coverage only. Coverage is provided by the Community Council of Graduate Medical Education (MMCGME). The MMCGME facilities include HCMC, Regions and Fairview University Medical Center.

Dental Coverage
Dental coverage is available for purchase by the resident.
Single coverage-$23.28/month
Family coverage-$56.74/month

Health Insurance
Medical benefits are provided by Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

Single coverage - $19.00/month Single coverage - $69.00/month
Family coverage - $280.00/month Family coverage - $430.00/month

 

Maternity/Paternity Leave
A leave of absence for birth or adoption of a child will be granted through request of the program director; six weeks paid maternity leave or two weeks paid paternity leave is the standard policy.

Vacation
In the first year, residents receive two weeks (14 calendar days) paid vacation.

PGY2 - PGY5 residents receive three weeks (21 calendar days) paid vacation annually.

Malpractice
Resident physicians are covered for malpractice claims with coverage continuing after the termination of residency for any claim that arose during the course of the residency.

  • Moonlighting — Moonlighting is available to all our residents. In addition to expected opportunities within the hospital, our residents may also work within the larger Minneapolis area.
