Salary 2006-2007
As an alternative to Social Security tax, you may elect to participate in a deferred compensation plan. A percentage of your pre-tax base pay is contributed to your designated investment options in the Minnesota Deferred Compensation Plan.
HCMC offers basic life insurance of $25, 000 for individual coverage only. Coverage is provided by the Community Council of Graduate Medical Education (MMCGME). The MMCGME facilities include HCMC, Regions and Fairview University Medical Center.
Dental coverage is available for purchase by the resident.

A leave of absence for birth or adoption of a child will be granted through request of the program director; six weeks paid maternity leave or two weeks paid paternity leave is the standard policy.
In the first year, residents receive two weeks (14 calendar days) paid vacation.
PGY2 - PGY5 residents receive three weeks (21 calendar days) paid vacation annually.
Resident physicians are covered for malpractice claims with coverage continuing after the termination of residency for any claim that arose during the course of the residency.
- Parking is provided at no cost to residents in a ramp adjacent to the hospital.
- Meals — a generous meal allowance is provided. Residents are issued ID cards, which serve as meal passes.
- Resident Exercise Center — a 24-hour exercise center is available to residents. The center offers a variety of equipment, free weights and showering facility.
- Resident Assistance Program (RAP) — this is an employee assistance program designed specifically for residents and is free of charge.
- Moonlighting — Moonlighting is available to all our residents. In addition to expected opportunities within the hospital, our residents may also work within the larger Minneapolis area.
