"FIND THE BALANCE" HD Conference

“FIND THE BALANCE” was the title of our 2008 Minnesota Conference on Huntington’s Disease held Saturday, September 27, 2008. This year’s conference was to educate patients, family members and caregivers about the impact of Huntington’s Disease on the immediate and extended family. Dr. Martha Nance updated those in attendance on the FDA approval of the first therapy specifically for symptoms of Huntington’s Disease, Xenazine (Tetrabenazine). The day’s keynote speaker, Pat Samples, presented on a topic designed for caregivers and others entitled, “Every Time Life Changes, Blow Bubbles.” This inspiring presentation offered encouraging stories and practical ideas to help participants make their way through change gracefully.

As in previous years there were several breakout sessions to attend in the afternoon as
well as support group sessions.

We are now beginning to plan next year’s conference; any ideas or suggestions for the conference can be directed to Nina Ross at Nina.Ross@hcmed.org. The conference brochure
for next year will again be available on line approximately 1 month prior to the conference.
