HCMC is a Level 1 Trauma Center that treats patients from a wide geographical area.  Air ambulance services combined with state of the art teams specialize in saving lives.  The Knapp Rehabilitation program takes patients from Surgical/Trauma/Neuroscience Intensive Unit Care.  We also admit patients from other area hospitals. Our goal is to assist patients and their families with brain injury rehabilitation. The comprehensive interdisciplinary staff works with the patient to minimize the physical/cognitive impairments experienced with brain injury.

Below are common brain injury diagnoses:

  • Traumatic Brain Injury
    • Closed brain injury
    • Open brain injury
  • Non-Traumatic Brain Injury
    • Anoxia (lack of oxygen supply to the brain)
    • Hypoxia (reduced oxygen supply to the brain)
    • Metabolic encephalopathy (disease or dysfunction of the brain)
    • Brain cancer
    • Carbon monoxide Poisoning
    • Other diffuse brain pathology

The Knapp Rehabilitation Center has an experienced staff that has specially trained therapists that focus on the specific needs of our patients. Our staff knows the importance of family as a crucial part of the team. The Knapp Rehabilitation team will take the time to assist families throughout the rehabilitation process, until they return to the patient's community.
