HCMC is recognized as a Joint Commission Certified Stroke Center. The Knapp Rehab inpatient program is part of the HCMC continuum of care for persons admitted with stroke.

Knapp provides an individualized intensive, coordinated rehabilitation program for persons who have experienced:

  • Ischemic strokes
  • Hemorrhagic stroke including aneurysms

The rehabilitation physician and the HCMC neurology and neurosurgery services provide medical and rehab program management. The experienced, interdisciplinary Knapp Rehab staff partner with the patient and family to plan progress by maximizing function, preventing complications, teaching compensatory strategies for activity limitations and assisting with discharge planning.
