Our doctors: Andrew Kiragu, M.D., FAAP is the director of the PICU. Dr. Kiragu completed his fellowship in pediatric critical care at the University of Minnesota and has been at Hennepin County Medical Center for the past 8 years. He is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. He is also Co-Medical Director of the Pediatric Brain Injury Program here at HCMC and the Principal Investigator for the Injury Free Coalition for Kids, Minneapolis. Tina Slusher, M.D., FAAP is a physician in the PICU. Dr. Slusher completed her critical care fellowship training at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. She is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota where she is also an integral part of the Global Pediatrics Program at the University. David Hirschman, M.D. FAAP is a physician in the PICU. His background is in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and he has extensive experience in the care of critically ill and injured children. He is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota.
Our Nursing Leadership: Julie Curti, RN, CPN, MSN,MBA-HCA is the Nurse Manager of Pediatrics and the PICU at HCMC. She has been a pediatric nurse for over 20 years and provides nursing leadership for the PICU. Sherrie Murphy, RN, BSN, CEN, CPHQ is the Pediatric Trauma and Critical Care Coordinator here at HCMC. She has been in nursing for over 25 years and has an extensive background in Pediatric Emergency Nursing and in the care of critically ill and injured children. She has also been instrumental in the development of a number of emergency nursing training courses here at HCMC.
