Sleep disorders affect approximately 40 million Americans, but only
5 percent of these are diagnosed and treated.

The symptoms of sleepiness, such as snoring or an inability to concentrate, may not seem like significant reasons to seek medical attention, but left untreated, sleep-wake disorders can lead to life-threatening cardiovascular disease and other health conditions.

In the News -- MRSDC Develops Sleep Forensics Unit

The sleep experts at the Minnesota Regional Sleep Disorders Center have formed the Sleep Forensics Associates, a resource for the international legal community to provide medical expertise by reviewing criminal and/or civil cases possibly involving a sleep disorder. This is the first-ever resource of its kind. For more information, go to www.sleepforensics.org.

The MRSDC is actively committed to providing practical and accurate information about sleep
disorders to the general public and the medical community by sponsoring lectures
and offering
a wide variety of educational and training programs.

Although the primary function of the MRSDC is in evaluating patients with sleep disorders,
clinical research is continuously being performed. The MRSDC staff is nationally and internationally recognized for its educational and research achievements and clinical expertise.

The MRSDC is a program of Hennepin County Medical Center. The center’s medical staff are
members of Hennepin Faculty Associates (HFA). The center is located across the street from the Metrodome, at 900 S. 8th Street, Minneapolis, Minn., on the eighth floor of the Green Building at G8.220.
