	Gross Room / Specimen Accessioning Phone: 612-873-6480 Histotechnologists, pathology assistants, residents and attending pathologists accession, examine and section patient specimens in the gross room. Protective clothing and ventilation hoods protect personnel from biohazards and formalin fumes during gross examination of routine and frozen section specimens. Digital photography is used to record important gross observations.
	Transcription Room/ Customer Service 612-873-3076 Transcription/ Office Specialists manage the workflow of the Surgical Pathology and Autopsy Services. They are the best people to call with any questions about Pathology Services .
	Histology (Lower Level of the Purple Building, formerly North Block) 612-873-3079 Histotechnologists process and embed sections from the gross room into paraffin blocks and then make thin shavings from the blocks to mount on glass slides. Special stains are prepared as needed after routine H&E slides are viewed by the pathologist.
	Sign-out Room 612-873-3077 The sign-out room serves as office to the residents and medical students on the pathology rotation. The multiheaded microscope is used by the attending pathologist for reviewing microscope slides with the residents and students. Clinicians are welcome to view their cases with the attending pathologist or resident at the multiheaded scope. Frozen sections are also viewed at the multiheaded scope.
