The Hennepin Comprehensive Cancer Center is committed to providing the finest in cancer-related services through an integrated system of health and social services. The continuum of care extends from prevention, diagnosis, treatment, symptom control, and cure, through all related aspects of adjustment to relapse, survivorship, and bereavement counseling.

The Cancer Center team includes medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists, specially trained R.N.s, and clinical nurse specialists in bone marrow transplant and complementary therapy. This team collaborates with physical therapists to provide care to patients with lymphedema and with a geneticist who provides genetic counseling to patients and families. The Hennepin Comprehensive Cancer Center also includes the Nancy Geltman Shiller Cancer Resource Library.

Hennepin Cancer Program is re-approved by the Commission on Cancer of the ACOS

The Hennepin Comprehensive Cancer Center has been awarded a certificate of approval with commen-dation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. The cancer program is approved through 2010.  The approval recognizes the Cancer Center’s commitment to the community
and to patients with cancer seen at the center. The Commission on Cancer looked at the organization of cancer services as well as the scope of high quality of care provided. 

Since being established by the ACOS in 1932, the Commission on Cancer's Approvals Program has set national standards for excellence in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients. Approval is given only to those facilities that pass a rigorous evaluation and review process. In order to maintain approval, facilities with approved programs must undergo additional onsite reviews every three years.  

Receiving care from an approved cancer program ensures that patients have access to:

 

•  Quality care close to home.

•  Ongoing monitoring and improvement of care.

•  Information about cancer clinical     trials, education, and support.

•  Comprehensive care offering a range of     state-of-the-art services and equipment.

•  A multi-specialty team approach to     coordinating the best treatment     options for cancer patients.  

•  Lifelong patient follow-up through a cancer     registry that collects data on type and stage     of cancers and treatment results.

 

Valet Parking

Valet parking is now available at the 913 S. 7th Street entrance to the Blue Building as a convenience for patients and visitors, especially those visiting the Cancer Center and other closeby clinics and services.

Valet Services operates Monday through Friday, 6 am to 6 pm (excluding holidays). Valet parking rates are $5 for 0-2 hours; $7 for 2-4 hours; $9 for 4-12 hours; $11 for 12-24 hours.
