Hennepin Cancer Program is re-approved by the Commission on Cancer of the ACOS
The Hennepin Comprehensive Cancer Center has been awarded a certificate of approval with commendation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. The cancer program is approved through 2010. The approval recognizes the Cancer Center’s commitment to the community and to patients with cancer seen at the center. The Commission on Cancer looked at the organization of cancer services as well as the scope of high quality of care provided.
Since being established by the ACOS in 1932, the Commission on Cancer's Approvals Program has set national standards for excellence in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients. Approval is given only to those facilities that pass a rigorous evaluation and review process. In order to maintain approval, facilities with approved programs must undergo additional onsite reviews every three years.
