The Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect Team (SCANT) at Hennepin County Medical Center

is a multi-disciplinary, interdepartmental team of professionals from HCMC, including pediatricians, social workers, nurses, chaplains, and psychologists, as well as individuals

from collaborating agencies including the Minneapolis Police Department, Hennepin County Child Protection, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Mission Statement

The Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect Team (SCANT) at Hennepin County Medical Center is a multi-disciplinary team committed to an effective systems’ response to child maltreatment. Through education, case presentation, and discussion, SCANT envisions a collaborative approach to appropriate interventions for vulnerable children and youth.

Meetings are held monthly and are coordinated by Anne Gilmore, LICSW, Pediatric Social Worker

Child Maltreatment Physician Consult Team (CMPCT)

The Child Maltreatment Physician Consult Team (CMPCT) provides consultation services for cases of known or suspected child abuse and neglect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Consultations may take place over the telephone or in person. Many contacts require on-site consultation in a timely manner. Three pediatricians currently compose the CMPCT. They are Margie Hogan, MD, Linda Thompson, MD, and Scott Velders, MD.
