In order to enhance service to HCMC’s culturally diverse clients, the program promotes a culturally diverse environment reflected by artwork, translated patient education materials, and religious and spiritual resources from a number of cultural and religious traditions.

The purpose of HCMC’s Diversity Program is to strive for a workforce that represents the clients we see, to serve our culturally diverse clients in a manner that acknow-ledges and respects their unique characteristics, and to develop staff so that they demonstrate competence in working with diverse clients and staff.

Clients are given opportunities to learn about the HCMC health care system and how to use it most effectively.

The program provides support, education, and consultation to HCMC providers in the areas of culture-specific issues as they pertain to health care. Services available include client demographic information, cultural-specific information, liaisons with client communities, interpretation and translation services, self awareness training, and opportunities to develop skills to work and communicate effectively cross-culturally.
