The HCMC Medicine
Clinics see more than 25,000 patients each year. The Medicine Clinics provide
evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of adult health problems and offer
primary and preventative health services. These services are provided
by an interdisciplinary health care team, which includes physicians, nurse
practitioners, nurses, dietitians, psychologists, pharmacists, and social
workers. The services are located on Level 7 of the Purple Building unless otherwise noted.

HCMC welcomes you, and is conveniently located to help should you
need health care services during your stay in our community. Many of the
HCMC Medicine Clinics can offer you same-day, walk-in appointments to
help you through your health problems.
The following
Medicine Clinic hours are Monday through Friday unless otherwise noted.
Same-day
walk-in appointments are available.

Providing
assessment and treatment for a full range of skin conditions, including
consultation for skin diseases and cosmetic problems, diagnostic
studies, photochemotherapy, surgery for benign or malignant skins
conditions.
Special
feature: The
HCMC Dermatology Clinic offers state-of-the-art ultraviolet light
therapy for conditions such as psoriasis.
Same-day
walk-in appointments available.

Are you an adult new to the HCMC Medicine Clinics? Then the Direct Care Clinic might work best for you. Staff will schedule a meeting with you to discuss all of your health and wellness concerns.
They will also ask you about your preferences: which days
of the week work best for your appointments, what appointment times you prefer, whether you'd prefer to see
a male or female health care provider, whether you need an interpreter, and other aspects of care.
Same day walk-in appointments are available.

Providing services in the diagnosis and treatment
of gastrointestinal and liver diseases, including pancreatic and biliary
disease, endoscopic ultrasound, hepatitis and liver disease, complex
gastrointestinal bleeding, and all area of gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Hours: M, T, and W mornings

| Consultation, diagnosis,
and treatment for patients will all
types of infectious diseases,
wound infections and related problems.

Providing
primary care in a culturally competent setting
with bilingual support. Appointments are available for the following groups on the following days:
Russian: Monday afternoon
Somali: Monday afternoon, Tuesday afternoon
Spanish: Monday morning and afternoon, Friday afternoon |
Services
provided for people who have diabetes, high cholesterol or weight
problems. Education and counseling
is provided regarding
good eating habits.

Each year, more than 11,000 people are seen at the Positive Care Center for expert assessment and treatment of HIV and AIDS, Hepatitis C, HPV, and other conditions, making it one of the largest clinical and research centers in the Upper Midwest.
The Positive Care Center services also include:
- Co-Infection Clinic for patients with HIV
and Hepatitis C
- Psychology services for patients living with HIV
and AIDS

Wondering
what you can and should do to help promote
wellness and prevent health
problems? It's never to early
to start being informed
about your health. For instance, do you know what your blood pressure
and cholesterol readings are?
Preventive Services such
as physical examinations, labora-tory tests, and immunizations can
help guide you and inform you so that you can take charge of your
health. Preventive Services are tailored to young adults 24 or younger,
as well as older adults ages 25-64.

The Rheumatology Clinic
sees patients of all ages who have joint, bone, or muscle problems.
Common conditions diagnosed and treated by the clinic include:
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Osteoarthritis (degenerative arthritis)
- Lupus
- Inflammatory muscle disease
- Tendonitis and bursitis
- Gout
- Ankylosing spondylitis

We
all know that smoking is harmful to your health and that of others.
In fact, experts say that every cigarette you smoke takes 11 minutes
off your life. Are you running out of time?
The Tobacco Dependence
Clinic provides individual evaluations to help people develop a
plan to quit smoking and supports these efforts with counseling;
medications such as nicotine patches, gum, inhalers and nasal spray;
and follow-up designed to help people through the early days and
weeks of becoming a non-smoker.

Wednesday afternoons

Are
you new to the HCMC health system, someone who needs care for a
particular problem now? If so, then the Medicine Walk-in Clinic
might be a good option for you to
visit to be evaluated
for your health concern.
Testing and counseling
for sexually transmitted diseases is also available.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 to
11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.
