The Occupational Therapy Department of Hennepin County Medical Center provides evaluation, treatment services and education to patients and families of all ages and cultures.

Staff:

Occupational Therapists have a graduate degree from an accredited occupational therapy program and have taken a national certification examination.  All therapists are certified with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and are licensed by the Minnesota Department of Health.

Services:

Occupational Therapy provides evaluation, treatment, and education to individuals whose abilities to perform daily living tasks are compromised by aging, injury or environmental factors.

Patients are seen as inpatients or outpatients on the specific order of a physician, or other recognized health care professionals.

Areas of assessment include but are not limited to:

  • Self cares
  • Home management
  • Cognitive/memory
  • Visual/perceptual skills
  • Physical (strength, endurance, coordination)
  • Developmental skills (functional to age level)
  • Burn or scar management
  • Musculoskeletal dysfunction
  • Use/need of assistive devices
  • Education to caregivers and family members
