The Physical Therapy Department of Hennepin County Medical Center provides diagnostic treatment services and education to patients and families of all ages and cultures.

Staff

Physical Therapists have a graduate degree from an accredited physical therapy program and have taken a national licensure examination.  All therapists are licensed with the Minnesota Physical Therapy Licensing Board.

Services

Physical Therapy provides services to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout a person’s life. This includes providing services where movement and function are impaired by aging, injury, disease or environmental factors.

Patients are seen as inpatients or outpatients on the specific order of a physician, or other recognized health care professionals.

Services include but are not limited to:

  • Gait and transfer training
  • Wheelchair mobility training
  • Orthotic and prosthetic training
  • Application of heat/cold/electrical modalities
  • Soft tissue and joint mobilization
  • Vestibular rehabilitation
  • Developmental skills (functional to age level)
  • Burn care
  • Musculoskeletal dysfunction
  • Use/need of assistive devices
  • Education to caregivers and family members
