Founded in 1959,
HCMCs Service League links the medical center and the community
as it supports the HCMC mission. It is a not-for-profit organization
led by a volunteer Board of Directors as well as medical center
staff.
The
Service Leagues Volunteer Services Program places volunteers
in nearly 30 positions throughout the medical center and at its
community clinics, providing service to patients, visitors, and
staff. The Service League funds and/or operates services and amenities
that create a welcoming environment for patients and visitors:
art, music, furnishings for waiting rooms, plants, the gift shop, and
supplies for patient recreation.
|
It also
responds to departmental requests for assistance with special projects
and provides support for ongoing needs identified by Social Services and
patient care staff. In addition, the Service League works to foster staff
morale by operating the Employee Box Office,
sponsoring employee athletic teams, supporting two historical museums
that preserve the heritage of medical care provided throughout the years,
and contributing to employee special events.
