The Surgery & Procedure Center provides perianesthesia nursing assessment and care for adults and some adolescents requiring elective surgery and special procedures. During the pre-anesthesia "Phase 1" period, most surgical patients are assessed and prepared for surgery. In the post-anesthesia "Phase 2" areas, the patients whose procedures allow them to go home are received from the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. Additional assessment, care, and treatment with instructions for discharge and follow-up are given.
