HCMC again recognized by U.S. News & World Report

HCMC is again ranked among America’s Best Hospitals in the latest edition of U.S. News & World Report. This is the eighth year in a row that the Minneapolis Level 1 Trauma Center has been recognized in the magazine’s annual rankings of hospitals where consumers can go to get the best level of medical care.

Kidney Care at HCMC includes diagnosis and long-term management of kidney diseases and hypertension, including the evaluation and treatment of:

The Kidney Transplant Program at HCMC has been recognized as one of the top three transplant programs in the nation by the University Health Consortium. HCMC was the first kidney transplant center in the Upper Midwest, recently celebrating 40 years of service.

The Hennepin Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology (HCDE) provides comprehensive services to help those with hormonal disorders such as diabetes, thyroid abnormalities, and other disorders related to hormone-producing glands.  

Diabetes is the most prevalent hormonal disorder with approximately 7% of Americans having Type 2 Diabetes.  The HCDE offers the latest technology for monitoring and treatment of diabetes, including blood glucose monitors, sensors, insulin pumps, and medications, as well as diabetes screening, education, support groups, nutritional counseling, and weight loss management.

Gastroenterology Care at HCMC provides diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal conditions and diseases of the stomach, intestines, bile ducts, liver, and pancreas. Areas

of specialized expertise include: pancreatic and biliary diseases, endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, capsule endoscopy, hepatitis and liver disease, complex gastrointestinal bleeding, and all areas of gastrointestinal endoscopy.  

 

Respiratory Disorders

Pulmonary Care at HCMC includes diagnostic and therapeutic care in the areas of severe lung injury, lung diseases, lung infections, vascular disease, and sleep and breathing disorders.  

Conditions treated include asthma, emphysema, fibrosis and interstitial lung disease, sarcoidosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pneumonia, tuberculosis, sleep disorders, acute respiratory failure, and many other types of respiratory disorders.

Orthopaedic Care at HCMC provides diagnosis, treatment, and training dedicated to returning patients to the most optimal level of activity possible.  Specialty areas include:

Physician Referrals

HCMC is a regional referral center for both emergency/critical care cases and complex elective procedures.  HCMC receives referrals from throughout the upper Midwest

(including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota) and works

closely with referring physicians to ensure the continuity of care when a patient returns home.
