Pediatric Urgent Care Services
In addition to caring for adults, Urgent Care provides care for children 18 and under. Pediatric patients (children 18 and under) will be assessed in Urgent Care, R1.060. If Urgent Care services are appropriate, the child and parent will be taken by a staff member to either the Pediatric Direct Care Clinic on Red 7 or the Pediatric Emergency unit on Red 1 for treatment without an appointment. If Urgent Care services are provided in either of these two locations, treatment will be billed as an Urgent Care visit.
If the child has a fever or other indication that a higher level of care is needed, the child will be transitioned after the initial Urgent Care assessment to the Pediatric Emergency unit as an Emergency Department patient. Emergency Department co-pays will apply, depending on your insurance coverage.
This is a hospital-based Urgent Care clinic owned by Hennepin County Medical Center. Many insurance plans pay for health care services provided in a hospital-based clinic differently than those provided in a doctor’s office or stand alone Urgent Care. Your insurance may require that you meet your annual deductible and/or require that you pay a percentage of the bill rather than just an office visit co-payment. You should check with your insurance company if you have any questions.
Insurance coverage may vary.
