The Knapp Rehabilitation Center has an experienced staff with specially trained therapists who focus on the specific needs of our patients. Our staff knows the importance of family as a crucial part of the team. The Knapp Rehabilitation team will take the time to assist families throughout the rehabilitation process, until they return to the community.
Brain Injury Program
Our staff assist patients and their families with brain injury rehabilitation. The comprehensive interdisciplinary staff works with the patient to minimize the physical/cognitive impairments experienced with brain injury.
We provide an individualized intensive, coordinated rehabilitation program for persons who have experienced Ischemic strokes and Hemorrhagic strokes, including aneurysms.
The rehabilitation physician and the HCMC neurology and neurosurgery services provide medical and rehabilitation program management. The experienced, interdisciplinary Knapp Rehabilitation staff partner with the patient and family to plan progress by maximizing function, preventing complications, teaching compensatory strategies for activity limitations and assisting with discharge planning.
This service is for patients who continue to need and benefit from two or more therapies, but do not require these therapies more than once a day. These outpatient therapy services are usually scheduled two to three times a week either in the morning or the afternoon, but can also be daily. Social services are available to assist our patients with coordinating their medical care as well as other issues that occur during rehabilitation. Services may include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, clinical psychology and/or neuropsychology.
