| Patients with minor acute illnesses, simple injuries, and other non-emergency conditions now have a fast track
through the Emergency Department since HCMC's new Emergency Express Care opened on level one of the Red Building.
The new 4,800 square foot unit combines the expertise of the Hennepin County Medical Center Emergency Department with fast-track efficiency in a beautiful new warm and comfortable setting.
The opening of this unit completes two years of renovation and expansion of
emergency care services at HCMC. |

Acute Psychiatric Services, a 24-hour walk-in psychiatric crisis center, recently expanded
on the same floor as the new unit and the main Emergency Department, making the first floor of the Red Building at 730 S. 8th Street the central location for emergency care on the HCMC campus.
Patients will report to the Emergency Department triage desk and cross the hallway to Emergency Express Care if appropriate.

- in service, no appointment is necessary.

Hennepin
County Medical Center is a public teaching hospital committed to providing
the highest quality primary, acute and specialty health care. Emergency Express Care exists to provide acute episodic care for minor illness and
injury of the adult. We accomplish this mission by:
- Operating a facility open day and evening hours,
363 days a year for patients
age 17 and older.
- Providing expedient patient-focused ambulatory,
non-scheduled medical care, supporting emergency services and decompressing
the main department.
- Referring patients that require care for complex
illness or injury to the Emergency Department or the appropriate Hennepin
County Medical Center Health Care Provider.
- Supporting continuity of care by coordinating and
communicating with the patients primary clinics and physicians
through referrals and follow-up care.
- Maintaining skilled professional nursing and medical
staff. We provide a clinical training site for physicians and other
health care professionals.
- Board-Certified Family Practice Physicians,
Certified nurse practitioners
- Residents
- Registered Nurses, ACLS & TNCC certified.

Nursing
staff are veteran Emergency Nurses now designated
to this
area, which supports the process of expedient, fast-track
care. Their
skills and knowledge base enhance rapid assessment
and training to appropriate
resources as needed.
