In 1989, HCMC became the first hospital in Minnesota to receive the America College of Surgeon’s (ACS) highest level of verification for trauma care. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, HCMC must meet strict criteria in both services and patient care. HCMC’s Trauma Services Department is responsible for overseeing the operations of HCMC’s trauma program. In January 2007, HCMC was successfully re-verified as a Level 1 Trauma Center for the sixth consecutive time. The staff of trauma specialists are responsible for assisting with planning, coor-dinating, and maintaining HCMC’s Level 1 Trauma Center status. Trauma Program Manager:
