The Alvin Schultz Lectureship was established in honor of Dr. Schultz and annually highlights speakers who lecture on a range of topics, such as health care reform, health disparities in Minnesota, and bioterrorism. Dr. Schultz set and maintained the highest standards of teaching excellence at HCMC and by 1987, 300 residents had completed training in internal medicine. Under his leadership, the Department of Medicine achieved national recognition for the quality of its clinical, research and educational programs.
Dr. Schultz passed away in 2001 after a lengthy illness. The Alvin Schultz Education and Research Fund was established at the Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation (MMRF) to honor his legacy by enhancing the research and education activities within the Department of Medicine at HCMC. |
