The Ophthalmology Clinic at HCMC provides routine eye exams as well as comprehensive ophthalmic care for patients of all ages. An optical shop is available at the Parkside Professional Center location.

Services arranged through the clinic include cataract extraction (with lens implant), laser refractive surgery, and contact lens fitting. Other services include retinal surgery, low-vision rehabilitation, treatment of ocular injuries and consultation and treatment of all eye conditions.

Kevin Engel, M.D.

Dr. Kevin Engel was recently appointed Department Chief of Ophthalmology at Hennepin County Medical Center. Dr. Engel attended medical school and graduate school at the University of Minnesota, where he also completed his residency in Ophthalmology. His special interests include the study of how the nervous system coordinates hand and eye movement.
