The Hennepin County Medical Center Child/Adolescent Clinic offers a variety of services to help children and adolescents who are having behavioral and emotional problems. We serve children up to age 18, and their parents and families too.

Philosophy
Hennepin County Medical Center Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic works collaboratively with clients to strive for optimal functioning of children, adolescents, families and caregivers.

Treatment Team
The clinic is staffed by psychiatrists, licensed psychologists, and psychiatric nurses. In addition, advanced psychology interns and fellow and psychiatry residents provide services under careful staff supervision.

Services:

  • Evaluation of emotional, behavioral, and educational difficulties
  • Individual psychotherapy for children and adolescents
  • Parenting skills counseling
  • Psychiatric evaluation and medical management
  • Consultation

Some of the types of problems for which children are seen in our clinic are:

  • aggressive behavior
  • fighting at school or home
  • crying or depression
  • anger control
  • school problems
  • attention deficit/hyperactivity
  • anxiety
  • parenting problems
  • domestic violence
  • physical or sexual abuse
  • dealing with separation and loss issues
  • defiant behavior, such as arguing a lot and not listening to adults
  • problems getting along with brothers and sisters
  • other emotional or behavioral problems
