Hennepin County Psychiatric Social Services offers a wide range of supportive and educational services for clients with mental illness. As a part of the multidisciplinary team, we provide social services to clients, family members and mental health professionals with information and access to comprehensive support services in their communities. Clients are assisted in developing a supportive network in preparation for return to community living.

Mission and Philosophy
Hennepin County Psychiatric Social Services works together with clients, family members, existing support systems, inpatient treatment team members and community supportive services in developing a supportive living environment for client’s return to community based living. Our philosophy of "inclusion" of client, family and community cultivates client participation in the continuum of admission, care and discharge planning. Our mission is to provide comprehensive social services, tailored to the individual, to ensure successful re-entry into the community, in the least restrictive setting.

Treatment Team
The inpatient psychiatric social services consists of a Social Services Supervisor, Registered Nurse Case Manager, three Social Workers, and a Social Work Case Aide.

  • Assistance with housing issues
  • Identifying existing support systems
  • Education/Literature with respect to Mental Illness treatment options, managed care, civil commitment

  • Discharge Planning
