Equipment Needs
It is often
difficult to know what equipment will be needed when a patient is initially
admitted to rehabilitation. The patient is usually much more independent
at discharge. Often, no equipment is needed when patients are discharged
home. If the medical condition involves certain movement restrictions,
loss of physical strength or endurance, there may be a need for special
equipment before patient can take a pass home or be discharged. Equipment
needs are discussed at the Family Conference. Staff are available to instruct
family members/caregivers how to safely use the equipment. Some equipment
may not be covered by insurance. In these cases a staff member can recommend
a few places where you can purchase or rent these items. Patients often
rent equipment because the item will only be needed for a short period
of time.
