The Miland E.
Knapp Rehabilitation Center (Knapp) is an acute specialty area of HCMC
serving adolescent and adult inpatients and outpatients. Knapp is part
of the full service health care offered at the hospital. As part of the
Level I Trauma Services at HCMC, Knapp is a primary provider of rehabilitation
for the traumatically injured.
The primary mission
of the Miland E. Knapp Rehabilitation Center is to provide intensive,
integrated, quality programs and services for individuals with physical
and cognitive impairment without discrimination on the basis of disability,
ethnicity, creed, color, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status.
This mission is
implemented within an environment of informed choice and is consistent
with the overall mission of HCMC.
This
Mission is Further Defined:
To
help individuals develop to their fullest physical, psychological, social
and economic potential consistent with their cultural
traditions and their environmental limitations.
To reduce the impact of activity limitations on the quality and productivity
of individuals' lives.
To educate medical staff, patients, families or other support persons,
health care professionals, students and payors
regarding their roles in the process of rehabilitation.
To
Accomplish This Mission, Knapp Will :
Expect active patient and family/ other support
persons’ involvement and commitment including
input and feedback.
• Work
to minimize activity limitations and participation restrictions of individuals
served while reducing dependency.
•
Emphasize customer needs and wants in our efforts to improve
our services; includes patients, families or other
support persons, physicians, rehab team staff and payors.
Continually evaluate the effectiveness of our programs and services as
measured by functional outcomes and customer satisfaction.
Assist patients to continue their rehabilitation process in an alternate
program or setting as appropriate to their needs
across time.
Maintain financial viability.
