A physiatrist is a physician who specializes in the rehabilitation of a wide variety of medical conditions. The physiatrist manages the individual rehabilitation program of the patient. The physician directs the treatment team, including the patient and family, toward a realistic and timely discharge. The physician also provides medical health care services seven days a week, 24 hours a day. The physician is the case manager that orders and manages therapies and treaments for each patient within the Knapp Rehabilitation Center. The doctor writes orders and informs staff of the needs of the patient.

•Lifting restrictions
•Medication management
•Follow-up with medical tests/procedures
•Monitoring physical and cognitive skills recovery
•Coordinating other medical specialties
