Nursing
Knapp has Registered Nurses (RN’s) and Health Care Assistants (HCA’s) who provide nursing care to the inpatients on the Knapp nursing unit. Nurses are present 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Rehab nurses use a primary and associate nursing care delivery system. This means the patients have the same nurses caring for them. The consistency or presence, teaching and nursing care helps the patients and families achieve their goals. Primary and Associate nurses work with the interdisciplinary team members to provide a comprehensive and coordinated rehabilitation program.
Services include but are not limited to:
- Medical/surgical nursing cares
- Medication administration and teaching
- Assessment of patient abilities on a 24 hour basis
- Practice of skills learned in therapy
- Education to patients and families
- Help to coordinate discharge needs
- Facilitate patient and family goals
