Cardiac Surgery

We offer a full-range of cardiovascular surgery procedures including coronary artery bypass grafting, repair and replacement of heart valves, repair of select congenital heart defects, surgical correcton of atrial fibrillation, and major aortic surgery.

Our surgeons specialize in off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting, cardiac surgery

in high risk patients, and surgical repair of aortic dissections and thoracic aortic aneurysms. Approximately 90% of our coronary artery bypass grafting surgeries are done off-pump - without using the bypass machine.

We will work closely with your cardiologist and other physicians to help you choose

the best option for treatment. The surgery and cardiology staff at HCMC are actively involved in cutting edge research and offer the latest in minimally invasive and noninvasive techniques.

Thoracic Surgery

Our surgeons specialize in the surgical treatment of lung cancer and complex intrathoracic infections. We utilize a multi-disciplinary approach in treating lung

cancer and work collaboratively with your oncologist and other physicians. Surgery may be the treatment of choice for certain types of lung cancer or lung masses

related to tuberculosis or other sources of infection.

We frequently do minimally invasive lung surgery or thoracoscopy to drain fluid

from around the lungs, obtain a biopsy, or repair a collapsed lung. Our surgeons

also perform thoracoscopic sympathectomies for the treatment of hyperhidrosis.

Thoracic surgery is also commonly done for diagnostic reasons or to improve respiratory function.

Vascular Surgery

Our surgeons specialize in surgical treatment of the aorta including repair of aortic dissections, aortic aneurysms, and aortic injuries related to trauma. We also offer nonsurgical repair of aortic aneurysms - endovascular stenting of the aorta - for patients who meet the specified criteria.

Vascular surgery is frequently done to revascularize the lower extremities and

provide better flow to aid in healing of wounds and treat claudication or cramping

in the calves with walking. We also offer surgical repair of the carotids and other

major arteries.
