Diversity Resources for Staff
Hennepin County Medical Center has taken important steps to help our organization and employees build a culturally competent work and care environment for all patients and employees. Among these are:
Diversity Training Classes
Seven modules were launched in 2009 to help staff better serve patients and work with co-workers who come from very diverse backgrounds.
Diversity Brown Bag Lunch Sessions
Ongoing monthly learning opportunities for employees that address health concerns in the community.
Internal Diversity Newsletter
An internal monthly diversity newsletter was created to give employees quick tips, explore diversity, and connect with the some of the events happening in the diverse communities we serve.
Diversity Council
The diversity council was expanded to include 34 individuals from many levels and areas of employment throughout the organization.
Employee Resource Groups
ERGs provide an opportunity for employees with similar interests and experiences to have a positive impact around a specific dimension of diversity at Hennepin. The purpose of each ERG is to provide a forum for support, professional development, and share input and ideas to advance diversity and inclusion efforts at Hennepin. We’ve kicked off our first group with our GLBT and Friends ERG in 2010.
