Some KEY POINTS to consider in planning a CME Event

• Plan ahead as far in advance as possible! (12 months minimum for major events.)

• Needs assessment, needs assessment, needs assessment!

• Define your audience.

• Mail early—two mailings are critical. (“Mark Your Calendar” piece and full schedule/brochure

   with registration)

• Market target audience via journals/publications/specialty newsletters

• Conduct an early site inspection for conferences held off-sight from your facility.

• Faculty selection is very important—Consider knowledge base as well as skill of presentation.

• Don’t forget how important your moderator is—proper introductions, keeping schedule

   on time, etc.

• Allow time for stretch breaks and question/answer periods.

• Keep as much practical information in your schedule as possible. Keep in mind that audiences    like case presentations and hands-on type of material to be presented when possible.

• Think about faculty audiovisual needs! Consider using an audience-response-system.
