Paramedic Program

Information for prospective paramedic students

Thank you for your interest in the Hennepin EMS Education/Ridgewater College Paramedic program. Our initial program started in March of 2007, as a partnership between Ridgewater College in Willmar, Minnesota and Hennepin EMS Education in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

EMS Student Badge

The program is one year in length and the next class will start at the beginning of June in 2012.

There are three sites where the program is offered - The Willmar and Hutchinson campuses of Ridgewater College and at Hennepin EMS Education in Minneapolis.

The class meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-10 pm and approximately one Saturday a month from 8-5. There is also extensive clinical and ride along time in addition to the classroom time.

The cost of the program is approximately $12,000.00 plus miscellaneous costs such as books, uniforms, parking etc.

There are two pathways to choose:

  • The certificate program will prepare you for the National Registry Exam and is required in order to work as a paramedic, or
  • the 2-year degree program will prepare you for the National Registry Exam.

Currently the prerequisites are a current EMT certification and current AHA Healthcare providers CPR card. You must also take the MNSCU placement evaluations.

Experience as an EMT is highly recommended along with classes in Anatomy and Physiology or a combination thereof. A&P will become a prerequisite in the future.

If you wish to receive a registration packet, please call Ridgewater College admissions offfice at (320) 222-5977.

Registration is on a first come, first served basis.
