Although
originally designed to meet the training and instruction needs of the
surgeon, the Ramon B. Gustilo Center for Medical Education and Biomechanics
Laboratory has been modified and enhanced to accommodate the educational
needs of a broad spectrum of medical and nonmedical groups.
Our newest feature,
a satellite teleconferencing system, enables uplink and downlink of any
type of video production and gives us a connection to any point on the
globe. This link, coupled with state-
of-the-art video camera and production equipment, facilitates the generation
and trasmission of the highest-caliber teleconferencing available.

The Ramon B. Gustilo Center for Medical Education
and Biomechanics Laboratory can accommodate up to 56 surgeons at 28 work
stations in its 2,024-square-foot surgical
skills laboratory. The laboratory is furnished with seven fixed tables,
each with compressed air, electricity and suction, to replicate an actual
surgical setting. Adjustable vises and high-level lighting enhance the
experience.
