Pharmacy Residency Programs at Hennepin County Medical Center

Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) is repeatedly named one of America's Best Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Our dynamic, 471-bed medical center is Minnesota's first and largest Level I trauma center.

Pharmacists at HCMC collaborate to provide quality patient care in a healing environment using professional knowledge, mastery of skills and compassion. These services are provided in Acute Care and Ambulatory Care settings, Community Pharmacies, and in a Regional Poison Control Center.

HCMC Pharmacy practice residencies are 12-month postgraduate training programs that center on the development of knowledge, attitudes, and abilities necessary to independently and competently optimize pharmacotherapy outcomes through direct patient care and pharmacy practice management. Specialized residency programs include an emphasis on optimizing patient outcomes in a focused area of healthcare and a commitment to prepare a new generation for leadership within the specialty area of the pharmacy profession


HCMC offers three residency programs, including:


Program objectives include: (1) demonstrate proficiency, confidence, and compassion in providing direct patient care to diverse populations; (2) demonstrate professionalism and effective communication skills in all components of pharmacy practice; (3) optimize pharmacotherapy and safe medication practices; (4) provide effective education to healthcare professionals; and (5) apply clinical and outcomes research concepts to professional practice.


Eligible candidates will have a Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy and be eligible for Minnesota licensure. An on-site interview is required. Application materials include: curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, a pharmacy transcript from an Accredited School or College of Pharmacy and a completed application form.
