PGY-2 MICU

As the G2 on MICU, you are the senior on the service.  Don't worry, though, you will always have access to a fellow who will be available at all times.  Also, staff are always available and most would never be upset about you calling them with questions, if the fellow is not available.

You will have been on the service previously, so you will know how things run with regard to rounding, etc.  This rotation is all about learning as much critical care as possible, procedures, time management, and knowing your limits.  Never be afraid to ask for help.  On the flip side, you should take this time to develop your confidence with management and procedures.  There are plenty of opporunities for central lines and the occasional intubation.

The rotation can get overwhelming, but remember that as a senior you should always take the time to make sure that your G1 is learning and that you take the time to walk them through your thought process.
