Whittier Clinic is our brand new clinic that opened in October 2010. It's located in the Whittier/Lyndale neighborhoods of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The clinic, formerly known as Family Medical Center, has provided community-centered primary care since 1986. While our clinic population is primarily Hispanic, we serve patients from a wide array of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
We have more than 60,000 patient visits every year and are linked electronically with our hospital, Hennepin County Medical Center, for both labs and records.
Our brand new site provides x-ray, ultrasound and laboratory services. Our experienced pharmacy staff
provides valuable educational services for providers and patients.
Whittier Clinic includes social workers, a psychiatrist and a Family Therapist to benefit the mental
health of our patients. Financial counselors facilitate appropriate health insurance coverage. We
use the Staged Diabetes Management program and have diabetic educators and nutritionists on site. A physical therapist is available to assist patients in a variety of ways. Many outpatient surgical procedures are performed as well, staffed by board-certified family physicians.
Women’s health is important to us. A Well Woman clinic provides specialized teaching of preventative care and advanced physical exam skills. We perform and teach colposcopy and LEEP procedures. Childbirth education and lactation consultation are available.
We value the health and wellness of our patients and our Wellness Clinic offers holistic medicine and acupuncture. Because we value individualized education and individualized patient care, we have divided the clinic into three teams. Each team has dedicated nursing, support staff and interpreters. These are people who know their patients and their doctors. This system provides individualized education with active mentoring to all our residents and fellows. |
