| Thank you for your interest in the Hennepin-Regions Psychiatry Training Program.
Established in 1996, our program is a partnership between Hennepin County Medical Center and Regions Hospital, both of which are large teaching hospitals and Level I Trauma Centers. Located in two different dynamic Midwestern urban centers, the hospitals provide a diverse patient population as well as multiple learning environments.
Our program is one of the select few to have received full five-year accreditation without citations, during consecutive ACGME reviews.
During our four-year program, residents participate in the required clinical rotations and comprehensive didactic training necessary to practice general psychiatry. Residents are also encouraged to develop specialized areas of interest during generously-allotted elective time.
We have seven PGY-1 openings for the 2012-2013 academic year and will begin seeking applications when ERAS opens its online system in September of 2011. We do NOT accept paper applications.
We will interview selected applicants on the following Mondays:
November 7th, 14th, and 21st
December 5th and 12th
January 9th
Additional Application Information:
- We accept J-1 visas and sponsor a limited number of H1b visas for qualified applicants.
- To be considered, applicants must have passed USMLE Steps I and II with a minimum score of 200 and by the second attempt (we cannot interview anyone who has not passed any of their Steps by the 3rd attempt).
- We will give priority to recent medical school graduates.
- We will only consider applicants with a demonstrated interest in the field of psychiatry. Our program considers applicants with psychiatry experience in this country and/or experience in other countries.
- We do not sponsor psychiatry observerships or externships at either hospital.
- Additionally, the program requires that residents pass Step 3 prior to February 15th of their G2 year. Failure to do so will result in nonrenewal of the resident contract.
Application Deadlines:
- Applications will be accepted until December 1, 2011.
- Applications received after December 1, 2011 will be reviewed only if interview times are available.
