Hennepin-Regions Psychiatry Training Program

PGY-1 CLINICAL PROGRAM

  • 4 Months Medicine
    Internal Medicine
    Pediatrics
    Emergency Medicine
  • 2 Months
    Neurology

  • 6 Months
    Adult Inpatient Psychiatry

During the Internal Medicine and Pediatrics rotations attending physicians complete daily rounds with a team of medical students and residents, providing clinical education in addition to didactic seminars.

The Neurology rotation includes a combination of inpatient, outpatient, and consultation experiences.

Inpatient Psychiatry rotations are on psychiatry units at both Hennepin County Medical Center and Regions Hospital. Each resident is assigned to a specific team for patient care.

During the first year, evening and weekend call is typically every 4th night with the exception of Neurology Consultation Service and Emergency Medicine where there is no call. There are two months of a night float rotation on Psychiatry. We adhere to the ACGME duty hour guidelines.

  • Inpatient Case Conference
  • ABC’s of Psychiatry for Inpatient
  • Presentation skills/Public speaking

Classes are held on Tuesday mornings throughout the year.
