Transitional Year Residency Program

Hennepin County Medical Center sponsors a one-year hospital based transitional resident program. We believe in hands-on experience, exposure to medical specialties, expert guidance, and a focus on learning by doing.

Length of Transitional Program: One year

Size of Residency Program: Four to eight per year

Required Rotations: Ambulatory Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Surgery and two electives

Most Chosen Specialties: Radiology, Ophthalmology, Anesthesia, Dermatology, Neurology

Transitional Year Residency Verifications

Effective November 1, 2011 the TY program began charging $25.00 for verification on physicians who are five or more years post-residency.  These funds will be used to support further education and training of HCMC residents and coordinators.
