Hennepin County Medical Center is located in downtown Minneapolis, across from the Metrodome, on Sixth Street and Park Avenue.

There are 3 main hospital entrances:

Red Building public entrance on 8th Street — 730 S. 8th Street

Purple Building entrance on 7th Street — 716 S. 7th Street

Blue Building entrance on 8th Street — 900 S. 8th Street

From the northwest
94 East to Exit 230 (4th Street). Follow 4th Street to Chicago; turn right onto Chicago until S. 7th Street.

From the northeast

Please note this following I-35W Bridge Detour:

Take I-35W south to Hwy. 280 south.  Follow Hwy. 280 to the I-94 West exit.  Follow I-94 west to the 5th St. S. exit.  Follow 5th St. S. and turn left on Chicago Ave., and go two blocks to S. 7th St.

Visit the Mn/DOT web site for additional detour information in the wake of the I-35W Bridge collapse, as well as for periodic closings of the route (usually on weekends) as Mn/DOT works to improve the detour route for travelers.

From the east
94 West to Exit 234B (5th Street). Follow 5th around the Dome; turn left onto Chicago until S. 7th Street.

From the south
35W North to Exit 16A (Downtown). Take 5th Avenue and follow 5th Avenue to 8th Street. Turn right onto 8th Street and take to Chicago Ave.; turn left onto Chicago until S. 7th Street.

From the west
394 East to Exit 9B (6th Street). Follow 6th Street until Chicago; turn right on Chicago until S. 7th Street.

Light Rail Transit to HCMC

HCMC is located at the corner of Park Ave. and 6th Street, conveniently located just 1-1/2 blocks south of the Downtown East/Metrodome station of the Light Rail Transit line.
