Parking Information

The HCMC Parking Ramp serves employees, patients, and visitors. The entrances to the HCMC Parking Ramp are at 615 S. 6th Street and 614 S. 7th Street (between Park and Portland Aves). A skyway from the ramp leads directly to the Purple Building and continues through all buildings on campus.

Parking spaces have been reserved exclusively for patients between the second and third floors in the HCMC Parking Ramp. Handicapped-accessible parking is located on the 6th level of the ramp near the elevators.

Discounted Parking in HCMC Ramp

Hennepin offers a number of discounted parking options for our patients and visitors. Please note that these discounts are only available at the HCMC Ramp at 615 S. 6th Street and 614 S. 7th Street. Patient and visitor discounted rates are not available in the ramp marked "Hospital Ramp" that serves the Parkside Professional Building, or in any of the local surface parking lots.

All clinic patients, inpatients and visitors are eligible for a discounted hourly parking rate. Request a validation ticket in your clinic or inpatient unit.

Birth Center patients and birth partners are eligible for a discounted rate of $4 during your admission. Request a validation ticket in the Birth Center.

Same Day Surgery Center patients and immediate family are eligible for a discounted rate of $4 for the day of admission. Request a validation ticket at the Same Day Surgery Center admissions desk.

Paying Parking Fees in the HCMC Ramp

The HCMC Ramp is fully automated. Patients and visitors who park in the HCMC Ramp must pay their parking fees using the self-service pay station located in the ramp’s skyway-level elevator lobby.

Remember to take your parking ticket from the entrance gate with you to use at the pay station. It accepts cash and credit cards, and it is able to read validation tickets. Once the transaction is complete, you will receive a final ticket for the exit gate.

Valet Parking

Valet parking is available at a flat rate of $5 for patients and visitors at the 913 S. 7th Street entrance to the Blue Building. This service is especially convenient for those headed to the Blue or Green Buildings or clinics such as the Orthopaedic Clinic, Cancer Center, or Postive Care Clinic. Valet Services operates Monday through Friday, 6 am to 6 pm (excluding holidays).

Parking Meters

Area parking meters are also available for $1 per hour. They are in effect from 8 am-10 pm every day of the week, and take quarters or dollar coins. 07/2011 Update: The City of Minneapolis is currently replacing traditional parking meters with new multi-space meters in the downtown area. The new meters cover one side of a city block and allow drivers to pay for their time using credit or debit cards as well as coins. For more information about Minneapolis parking meters, click here.
