Emergency Medicine at HCMC
Shifts

There are 5 different shifts to which Medical Students are assigned during their rotation. Their are approximately 16 clinical shifts in the Core Emergency Medicine rotation at HCMC. The shift hours are designed to maximize student faculty interaction:

7am to 3pm; 3pm to 11pm; 11pm to 7am These shifts mirror the hours of the faculty and pit bosses in Team center A.

9-5 & 4pm to 12am These shifts are similar to the Faculty and Pit boss shifts in Team Centers B & C.

Students on the 7-3 shifts Tuesday and Wednesday and the 7-3 and 9-5 shifts on Thursday are expected to attend Lectures or Conference and are released from their clinical duties during that time.
