Survival Tips > Admission Checklist

  • Put diagnosis in computer
  • Tell Hospital Unit Clerk (HUC): patient name, diagnosis, team, and type of bed needed
  • Call Team: HUC will page appropriate team, renal admissions need to be approved by renal fellow prior to calling the team. When speaking with the team, first tell them the patients name, medical record number, and diagnoses then tell them about the patient. If you are getting a hard time on the telephone be sure to let your senior resident know.
  • Put pager and name of resident to call on the bottom of ER sheet
  • Turn paper work into HUC after you have talked to the team, staff must sign paper work prior to patient going upstairs
