  • Plain radiographs are to be ordered on EMSTAT and need a clinical indication

  • CT scans are ordered on EMSTAT and all CTs other than non contrast head CTs, need to be called to radiology at all times. Ask the HUC to page the radiology resident and tell them the patient name, number, and a brief history. Also order the CT on the computer. Results of CT scan will be called to the department by the radiology resident/staff on call. If the CT is to be done with contrast need to obtain a creatinine either Istat or part of a BMP.

  • Ultrasounds and VQ scans need to be ordered on EMSTAT and  called to  radiology, just like a CT.
