Lynn Abrahamsen joined Hennepin County Medical Center as Chief Operating Officer in 2001 and was named CEO in 2006. Prior to that, Abrahamsen was executive director of the Neighborhood Health Care Network, St. Paul, a management services organization of 16 community-based clinics. She worked for Fairview Health Services from 1990-1998 where she served in system and site-specific administrator roles at Fairview Riverside and Fairview University Medical Center. She graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Social Work from the University of Minnesota, where she also earned a Master's degree in Hospital and Health Care Administration. She did her administrative residency at HCMC in 1978-79, joined the administrative staff in 1980, and worked on developing the hospital’s medical practice group, HFA. She was employed as the first Vice President of HFA from 1986–89.
Dr. Michael Belzer has been medical director and Chief Medical Officer since 1990. He also serves as Medical Director for Hennepin County’s Community Health Department and Associate Dean for the University of Minnesota Medical School. Prior to becoming Medical Director, he served as the Associate HCMC Medical Director for Academic Affairs. Dr. Belzer is
a practicing Medical Hematologist and Oncologist with subspecialty and specialty board certification in Medical Oncology, Hematology, and Internal Medicine. He served as President and Chairman of the Board of Hennepin Medical Society that represents over 4000 Physicians, and is presently on the boards for the National Public Health and Hospital Institute, the National Association of Public Hospitals Physician Leadership Advisory Committee, Hennepin Medical Association, Metropolitan Visiting Nurse Association and the Hospice of the Twin Cities among many others.
Larry Kryzaniak joined Hennepin County Medical Center in 2004 from Allina Health System where he was executive vice president responsible for financial operations of its Hospitals and Clinics Division, for which he also served as interim CFO. He has an undergraduate degree in Business and Management from Monmouth College, Ill., and an MS degree in Management from Cardinal Stritch Univer-sity. He received certification as a Fellow in Health Care Financial Management.
Joanne Sunquist joined Hennepin County Medical Center in 2004 from Allina Health System where she held senior management positions in Information Services for eight years. Prior to that, she was a health care IT consultant with Andersen Consulting (Accenture). Sunquist has a BS in Nursing from the College of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, Minn., and a master's degree in Nursing Administration from the University of Minnesota. She is a Board Member of the College of Healthcare Informatics Executives, an organization dedicated to health care IS executives, and is active in numerous other professional organizations.
Hilary Marden-Resnik has been with Hennepin County Medical Center since 2006. Previously, she had more than 15 years experience in Human Resources and the legal profession, most recently as the Director of Human Resources with HealthEast Care System. Marden-Resnik holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin, a Masters of Arts Degree in Industrial Relations/Human Resources Management from the University of Minnesota, and a Juris Doctor (Summa Cum Laude) from William Mitchell College of law.
Jeanette Taylor Jones joined Hennepin County Medical Center in 2007. Previously, she was the Clinic Site Executive for HealthPartners Riverside Clinic. Prior experience includes serving as Assistant Commissioner for the Department of Human Services, health management consultation for Model Cities Healthcare and Allina, Director of Operations for United Health, and CEO for Nursing Support Services Corporation. Taylor Jones is a Registered Nurse, has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration, and a Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law.
Mike Harristhal joined Hennepin County Medical Center in 1994. Previous experience includes
20 years as a partner with Hamilton/KSA during which time he worked with many hospitals, multi-specialty group practices, PHOs, and integrated delivery systems throughout the upper Midwest. Harristhal has undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas in Business Administration.
Gregory Lutz joined Hennepin County Medical Center in 2006. He most recently was with Loyola University Medical Center, where he was the Practice Administrator for Ambulatory Care Services.
Shirley Qual joined Hennepin County Medical Center in January 2007 and is responsible for HCMC's Compliance Program and Internal Audit function. Shirley, a nurse attorney, holds a BSN from the University of Utah and a Juris Doctor (Cum Laude) from William Mitchell College of Law. She practiced nursing for 7 years and health care law for nearly 20 years before beginning work as an in-house Compliance professional. One of Shirley's goals is to help HCMC develop and foster a culture that values integrity and respect so that everyone feels comfortable raising issues of concern.
Kathy Wilde joined Hennepin County Medical Center in July 2007 as the hospital's new Chief Nursing Officer. Wilde has more than 30 years of nursing leadership experience. Since 1995, she was with Mercy and Unity Hospitals, most recently serving as Vice President of Operations/Patient Care and as Chief Nursing Officer. Prior to that, she spent more than 20 years in nursing management with the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics.
