2nd Annual “Preseason Physical” cross-country ski event raises money for emergency medicine research
On Saturday, Dec. 13 skiers will race at Theodore Wirth Park to raise money for health disparities and resuscitation research in the Emergency Department at Hennepin County Medical Center. The second annual "Preseason Physical" ski event is sponsored by Hennepin County Medical Center's Emergency Medicine Department and the Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation. Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak will be participating in this family-friendly event for skiers at all levels of experience.

“Last year’s event was a huge success,” said HCMC emergency physician and cross country skier Jim Miner, MD. “We had a great turnout and lots of support for the important research being conducted at HCMC.”

The official Sprint or 10Km Freestyle Race begins at 9 a.m., followed by a 2Km Tour and 1Km Kids Race at 10 a.m. Registration opens at 8 a.m. at the Theodore Wirth Chalet. The race entry fee is $25 per person, with all proceeds supporting research at Hennepin County Medical Center's Department of Emergency Medicine. Prizes will be provided by: Rossignol, Toko, Integrative Health and Training, Gear West Ski and Run and others. Other sponsors include: Endurance Athlete, Finn Sisu Integrative Health and Training.
