Hennepin wants to Save this Brain at the Minnesota State Fair
Hennepin County Medical Center will be represented at the 2009 Minnesota State Fair to educate fairgoers about brain health and how to prevent traumatic brain injury, one of the leading causes of death and disability among children and young adults.

Hennepin County Medical Center's Brain Bar, staffed with a representative from the Level 1 Trauma Center, will be in Carousel Park with Radio Disney on Monday, August 31 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Radio Disney will broadcast a live radio show from 1-3 p.m. featuring Hennepin staff and education about safety.

The Brain Bar is an educational, interactive kiosk that allows people to take a closer look at how their brain really makes them who they are. Visitors to the Brain Bar will have the opportunity to “build their own brain,” save it to an online gallery and/or share their brain with friends. The gallery and more information on traumatic brain injuries are available on SaveThisBrain.org.

Hennepin County Medical Center admits more than 700 patients with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) each year and has inpatient and outpatient programs for both adult and pediatric TBI patients.

Celebrating its 20th year as Minnesota's first Level 1 Trauma Center, Hennepin County Medical Center includes a comprehensive academic medical center and public teaching hospital with a 469-bed acute care hospital and primary care and specialty clinics located in downtown Minneapolis, and four primary care clinics in Minneapolis and suburban Hennepin County.

For the thirteenth year in a row, Hennepin County Medical Center is listed in the U.S. News & World Report rankings of the top U.S. Hospitals in its annual "America's Best Hospitals" report.
