Bruce Thompson, RPH, MS
Bruce Thompson, RPh, MS is the Director of Health System Pharmacy Services at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he oversees pharmacy services in the Level 1 Trauma Center, teaching hospital, Medication Management ambulatory services in numerous clinics, and the regional Poison Control Center. Bruce and the team at HCMC have worked to expand the residency program, further enhance the clinical program, expand the Medication Management program and expand the roles of the pharmacy within nontraditional areas at HCMC. Over the past few years, new roles have been created for Technicians and pharmacists that have improved quality and provided value to the organization.
Bruce received his pharmacy and masters degree from the University of Minnesota and currently serves as adjunct graduate faculty for the Doctor of Pharmacy and Graduate programs. His previous work experience spans 35 years and includes Director at Fairview Northland where he developed and expanded remote order entry service for other small and rural hospitals throughout the state. Bruce also has extensive service in pediatric, rural and urban hospitals within Minnesota.
Bruce has been actively involved and provided leadership in local, state and national societies and associations, including MSHP, Heartland, Arrowhead, Central Society, ASHP, MCCP, MPhA, APhA and the DAP.
