Jon Gayken, MD
Surgery - Burn and Reconstructive
Dr. Gayken's interest in burn surgery began when he was a patient in Hennepin County Medical Center's burn unit nearly 20 yrs ago while recovering from skin grafting on nearly 40% of his body. He is particularly interested in long term reconstructive and functional outcomes in burn patients as well as the their acute care management.
Dr. Gayken has a strong interest in both the acute and long term psychological outcomes affecting burn patients and their reintroduction into society. His interest in trauma/critical care surgery began while he was a surgical resident at Hennepin County Medical Center. He has found caring for patients who rely on safety net hospitals particularly rewarding and a special privilege.
