Ronald A. Johannsen, MD

Dr. Ron Johannsen trained at the University of Minnesota in Internal Medicine, and for a number of years practiced General Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine in private practice in St. Paul. He later returned to the University of Minnesota and completed a fellowship in Cardiology, followed by founding and directing St. Paul Cardiology from 1991 to 2002. He is currently an Interventional Cardiologist at Hennepin County Medical Center, and is Associate Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Teaching at HCMC is a high priority for Dr. Johannsen. He has an appointment as Associate Professor of Medicine through the University of Minnesota.

In addition, International Medicine in the developing world has been a special interest. Two to three months per year are spent teaching in Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia.

Dr. Johannsen is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota.
